The British Mission, spent the month of November 1945 in Hiroshima and Nagasaki,studying the effects of the 2 dropped atomic bombs over the two city’s. The report tells what was seen and what could be learnt three months after the bombing, and to general conclusions on the effects to be expected from similar atomic bombs, should they fall outside Japan, and in particular in Great Britain. The mission was composed of scientists and engineers, including Dr. Jacob Bronowski, who documented the effects to aid the UK Home Office and Air Ministry in understanding the new weapon’s capabilities.
